Optical cable is a laminated glass core. Why are you afraid of it?
There are two maintenance regulations for the optical fiber line when the optical fiber cable is completed: first, the optical fiber line has less bearing capacity; Second, the optical fiber line should be moisture-proof.
The outermost layer of the optical cable is the plastic outer sheath, inside is the metal wire sheath, and then inside is the water barrier layer that rises in case of water. The cable core is pasted with the optical fiber line. There are four dampproof barriers for optical fiber line, namely: plastic outer protective layer, metal protective wire sleeve, barrier layer and grease. Then the question comes, why is the optical fiber cable so waterproof? Why are the glass tanks, laminated glass and glass windows at home not afraid of water but moisture-proof? Why are all laminated glass so different?
It is generally believed that the optical fiber line is not afraid of water, because the laminated glass has good water solubility. The manufacturer of optical cable filling paste believes that in fact, water is very harmful to optical cable. If there is water in the optical cable, it will hurt the optical cable if it freezes and rises in cold and cold water. Therefore, the optical cable must be covered with grease to avoid water.
The test shows that the long-term immersion of water into the optical cable will reduce and expand the optical fiber line, especially at the light wavelength of 1.55pm, the reason why the optical fiber line is not waterproof is that the optical fiber line is composed of laminated glass (si04) silicon oxygen tetrahedrons connected with each other, and the oxygen molecules exist in the form of bridging oxygen in one Si-O-Si Internet. However, in the natural environment of water storage, after the gas is adsorbed on the surface of laminated glass, hydrolysis reaction is gradually generated, resulting in the rupture of silicon oxygen bond in the original internet-si-0-si-1, and the bridge oxygen becomes non bridge oxygen, resulting in cracks in laminated glass and continuous improvement of cracks.
Why does optical fiber cable continue to be waterproof even if it is laminated glass?
Whether the glass cylinder laminated glass, glass window or optical fiber line laminated glass are not waterproof, the difference is that the glass cylinder laminated glass and glass window are thick, with a thickness of 3mm, 5mm and l0mm. Even if there is a crack of 0.05mm, it will not endanger the compressive strength of the laminated glass, and people can't see the change. The laminated glass of the optical fiber line is different. The diameter of the laminated glass of the optical fiber line is only 0.125mm, the size of hair. If there is a crack of 0.05mm, the diameter of the optical fiber line will be 0.075mm. Therefore, the optical fiber line is easy to break. In addition, the occurrence of Oh root will also improve the digestion, absorption and consumption of the optical fiber line. This is why the glass cylinder laminated glass and glass window are not afraid of water, while the fiber-optic cable laminated glass is not waterproof.
In this way, the manufacturer of optical cable filling paste believes that the damage of optical cable, the poor sealing of optical cable joint box and the exposure of bare fiber will reduce the service life of optical fiber line and of course break the fiber due to water.
